Kia Recall for Defective Parking Lights — Are You Driving a Lemon?
Kia has issued a recall for more than 82,000 model-year 2025 Kia K5 sedans, warning that a software defect may cause the parking lights to flicker or fail altogether. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this malfunction could reduce driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash, especially in nighttime or low-light conditions.
Kia reports the defect can be resolved with either a dealer-installed fix or an over-the-air software update. However, for California drivers already experiencing issues with their vehicle’s lighting or electrical systems, this recall may be the latest chapter in a pattern of reliability concerns.
James Johnson: “You have legal rights—don’t let the dealership decide your fate.”
“Automakers have a responsibility to sell safe, reliable vehicles,” said James Johnson, lead attorney at Johnson Attorneys Group. “If your Kia has ongoing issues—even after attempted repairs—you could be entitled to compensation under California’s Lemon Law. You don’t have to settle for a vehicle that puts you and your family at risk.”
You May Qualify for a Buyback or Cash Settlement
Under California’s Lemon Law, if your car has a substantial defect that the manufacturer can’t fix in a reasonable number of attempts, you may be eligible for:
-
A full refund or buyback
-
A replacement vehicle
-
A cash settlement
And the best part? The manufacturer pays your attorney’s fees.
