DETROIT (March 18, 2015) – Kia Motors America has announced a recall of some 209,000 2014 and 2015 Kia Soul electric and gas powered SUVs due to a potential safety risk after it was discovered the car’s gas pedal may break or bend.
The recall, which covers certain models of these vehicles, has alerted Kia owners to the fact that some of these gas pedals may break when an unsupported section of the pedal is hit too hard when the vehicle isn’ t moving.
Kia was alerted to the defect when owners began making claims for this problem while the vehicle was under warranty. Kia dealers will install rubber supports underneath the pedal stopper beginning March 24 at no charge.
If you are a Kia owner who is having repeated problems with your vehicle or you believe you have purchased a lemon, under California law you may qualify for a replacement vehicle or reimbursement.
