Power Steering Problem Leads to Recall of 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Pickups, 2014 GMC Sierra Pickups
General Motors LLC (GM) has issued a recall for 690,685 pickup trucks due to a problem leading to temporary loss of electric power steering assist.
Certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks may experience a sudden and temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, GM reports. This may happen while the vehicle is traveling at low-speed and during turning maneuvers, according to General Motors.
Drivers and their passengers may be at risk of being hurt in a crash if this happens as the vehicle operator may lose control of the steering.
GM has stated that it will notify owners and dealerships about the problem and will provide an update to the EPS module software at no cost to owners of these vehicles.
If you would like more information about this recall, contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-432-8782. Mention the recall number is 17276.
