Volkswagen Recalls 48K Jetta Vehicles Over Fire Risk, Wiring DefectLOS ANGELESVolkswagen recalls 48,165 units of its model-year 2025–2026 Jetta vehicles in the U.S. due to a wiring defect that could increase the risk of fire.

The German automaker’s decision to finally issue recalls for the Volkswagen Jetta vehicles comes after reports of three known fires in engine bays and three claims due to melted wiring.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue stems from a manufacturing error during the assembly process due to human error. Workers may have left the transmission ground wire disconnected, creating an open electrical circuit. Additionally, the affected vehicles were produced between March 2025 and February 2026.
