Toyota Recall Affects 2022 to 2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid Trucks
PLANO, Texas (June 2, 2025) — Toyota Motor Corporation issued a recall for approximately 443,000 model year 2022–2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks in the United States due to a safety defect involving the vehicles’ reverse lamps.
According to a Toyota press release dated May 15th, moisture intrusion over time can cause both reverse lamps on affected vehicles to stop functioning. This failure may reduce rear visibility when backing up in low-light conditions and prevent other drivers or pedestrians from knowing the vehicle is driving in reverse, increasing the risk of a crash.
How Will Toyota Fix Reverse Lamp Defect?
To resolve the issue, Toyota dealers will replace both reverse lamp assemblies with upgraded parts free of charge. If corrosion is found extending into the wiring harness connector, the wiring will also be repaired at no cost to the owner. Toyota plans to notify affected vehicle owners by mid-July 2025.
James Johnson, a California lemon law attorney, weighed in on the recall’s legal implications. “Loss of reverse lamp function is a serious safety concern that compromises both driver visibility and the safety of those nearby,” said Johnson. “If owners have experienced repeated failures or extended repair times, their vehicle may qualify as a lemon under California’s Song-Beverly Warranty Act.”
