Tesla is recalling 9,136 Model X SUVs to Replace Roof Trim

Tesla Model X owners will need to take their SUV to repair or replace the roof trim as part of a new recall for 9,136 vehicles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is warning owners of the sports utility vehicles that the trim on the roof could separate. Specifically, the manufacturer failed to apply primer before adhering the trim to the surface and now it appears to separate over time. If that happens, it could potentially cause a road hazard and or a collision.

The Austin, Texas-based automaker typically updates its recalled vehicles in an over-the-air software update, but not this time. Owners have to physically return their vehicle to a repair shop to have the roof trim reattached at no cost to owners.

So far this year, Tesla has recalled 2.6 million electric vehicles over safety concerns, but it’s Ford that is the top brand for the most recalls in the United States with 3.6 million recalled vehicles this year, according to one report.
