CALIFORNIA — Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 200,000 Bronco and Bronco Sport vehicles nationwide due to a defect that could cause the instrument panel to fail at startup, potentially increasing the risk of a crash, according to federal safety regulators.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the defect may prevent the instrument cluster from displaying critical information when the vehicle is started, leaving drivers without access to speed, warning lights, and other essential safety data.
The recall affects approximately 128,607 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles and 101,002 Ford Bronco vehicles, all from the 2025 and 2026 model years. Ford has reported that it is not aware of any injuries related to the issue at this time.
Beginning Dec. 8, owners began to receive notification letters instructing them to bring their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for a software update, which will be performed at no cost.
For California owners, repeated warning light failures, extended repair times, or unresolved safety defects tied to this recall may raise potential California Lemon Law concerns. State law may entitle qualifying consumers to a vehicle buyback, replacement, or compensation. Owners experiencing ongoing issues are encouraged to consult a qualified California lemon law attorney to review their rights and options under the law.
