Ford Recall 115,000 F-250, F-350, F-450 Trucks for Steering Defect

A Ford recall for more than 115,000 trucks is due to a steering defect that could cause drivers to lose control of their pickup truck, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall affects certain F-250, F-350, and F-450 models from the 2020 and 2021 model years. Regulators say the problem stems from the steering column’s upper shaft, which may detach. If this happens, drivers could suddenly lose the ability to steer the vehicle, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

In total, 115,539 trucks are covered by the recall. Ford dealers will inspect and repair or replace the faulty part at no cost to owners.

Owner notification letters are expected to begin mailing on October 6, with follow-up notices once a permanent fix is available in December 2025. Ford’s recall reference number is 25S94, and Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be checked on NHTSA’s recall website.

This latest action follows a series of recent recalls by the automaker. Just weeks ago, Ford recalled nearly 1.9 million vehicles globally for defective rearview cameras and more than 355,000 trucks in the U.S. for dashboard display issues.
