Ford Recall Over 1 Million Vehicles for Rearview Camera Defect

Lemon Law Attorney James Johnson Shares What You Need to Know

Ford Recalls Over 1 Million Vehicles for Rearview Camera DefectFord Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 1 million vehicles due to a software malfunction that may cause the rearview camera to freeze, delay, or fail to display, significantly increasing the risk of an accident, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The malfunctioning software may prevent drivers from seeing properly when reversing, creating a serious safety hazard.

“Owners of these vehicles are at greater risk for a collision,” said Attorney James Johnson, a California-licensed lemon law attorney. “Some car owners grapple with repeated issues with their Ford pickup truck and may be eligible for a buyback or replacement vehicle under California Lemon Laws.”

🚗 Affected Vehicles Include:

  • 2021–2024 Bronco

  • 2021–2024 Edge

  • 2023–2024 Escape

Ford plans to fix the issue either at the dealership or via a future over-the-air software update. A preliminary letter informing owners of the safety risk will be mailed starting June 16, with a follow-up letter when the repair is ready—currently expected in the third quarter of 2025.
