Roughly half a million diesel cars worldwide are subject to a recall by Volvo Cars due to a potential fire risk.
The faulty engine component may in extreme cases cause a vehicle to catch a fire.
The affected vehicles are the two-liter, four-cylinder diesel engines manufactured between 2014 and 2019. Specifically, the automaker says these models are being recalled: S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60 and XC90.
The car maker stated that the engine inlet manifold’s plastic could potentially melt due to temperature changes.
The auto company noticed that the problem has led to a car fire in a few cases, but no injuries or accidents were linked to the problem.
Volvo Cars was purchased in 2010 by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
