Lemon Law Attorney Discusses Tesla Model 3 Reliability and Problems
There are a number of problems with the Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle (EV) such as body hardware, paint and trim issues, according to a report survey by Consumer Reports.
The magazine reported in February that it would no longer recommend the vehicle as one of its most reliable due to these issues.
The Model 3, which came out in 2017, has been touted as Tesla’s first mass-market electric vehicle. The smaller sports sedan was coveted by consumers who desired a Tesla, but at a more affordable price ($35,000 to $59,000) compared to the preceding Model X or Model S vehicles manufactured by Palo Alto, California-based Tesla.
Specifically, Tesla owners surveyed by Consumer Reports pointed to body hardware and electronics problems inside the vehicle. The on-board computer screens were freezing, a common complaint among other Tesla model owners, or acting strangely and complaints about paint and trim. Others complained about glass defects such as cracks in the rear window.
Tesla maintains that it has addressed these issues to fix the Model 3 by altering its design and manufacturing processes, according to Consumer Reports.
Johnson Attorneys Group, a California Lemon Law Firm, has helped clients with various issues involving the Model X, specifically hardware problems such as the falcon-wing doors, dash lights and brake lights going out.
“While most Tesla owners are reportedly satisfied overall with their vehicles, reliability issues can dampen their enthusiasm for this popular electric vehicle,” said James Johnson, a California lemon law attorney with Tesla experience. “When the car is spending more time in the shop than on the road, it’s probably time to call an attorney for help.”
Other complaints reported online by Tesla Model 3 owners have included blurry backup cameras, malfunctioning GPS, touchscreen malfunctions, problems unlocking the car, cars shutting down while driving, trunk closing problems, buckled window pillars and in at least one case a sinking hood, according to Cheat Sheet.
Additionally, Consumer reports does not recommend the Model X SUV, nor the Model S luxury sedan, the latter which is known to have suspension problems with its 2017 model year.
On a positive note, Consumer Reports notes that Tesla’s unique electric powertrains have had few problems among its owners.
