Defective Kia Engine Valve Springs a Fire Risk
Kia North America recently issued a recall for 2,872 of its 2024 Kia Telluride SUVs due to defective engine valve springs that could potentially cause a fire and or a collision.
The automaker warns drivers that the springs could break when they are driving their SUV. If that happens, the driver could experience a loss of drive power and there is the potential it could cause a hole in the engine block. If there is a hole in the engine block, this could pose a fire risk as well as a potential crash, according to the NHTSA.
Kia is working to resolve the program and owners may take their vehicles to a dealership for free repairs, the automaker said.
The auto manufacturer is planning to send notification letters to owners of the affected vehicles on April 5, 2024.

The 2024 Kia Telluride is sold with a 5-year/60,000-mile limited warranty as well as a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
