There are three main complaints from owners of the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse: the transmission, powertrain, and electrical system.
Owners were notified by General Motors in late July about a recall for several models including the 2023 Traverse because the transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear. This could cause the driver-side half-shaft to disengage from the transmission.
The recall also includes 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles
There are two recalls and two dozen complaints about the SUV on the NHTSA website. At least six complaints for the engine and eleven were for the powertrain.
Owners complain the “transmission downshifts hard when in lower gears and sometimes when shifting to higher gears.”
One owner of a 2023 Traverse from Porterville, California told the NHTSA the SUV had “noticeable hard shifting, Transmission concerns, and the vehicle would not move during acceleration when pulling into (the driveway).”
The motorist put the Traverse in park, and then back to drive, but the vehicle would still not move. The same owner complained about roughly idle, noisy braking, and delayed acceleration from a stop as well as on the freeway.
Another owner told federal safety regulators their vehicle shut down and stopped suddenly while driving. This happened twice while they were driving under 20 miles per hour. One time it happened at a railroad crossing and the other was turning onto a major roadway. However, the dealership was unable to locate the problem.
If your 2023 Chevrolet Traverse is having ongoing transmission issues or other problems and attempts to fix it have failed, it’s time to call a lemon law attorney. Check out our video blog (see above) on what you should know about the California lemon law.
