2016 Kia Sorento Problems and Complaints

LemonThe 2016 Kia Sorento SUV may be “bred for adventure,” but owners say they didn’t count on problems such as runaway cruise control, brakes and steering wheel issues.

Indeed, despite the mid-sized SUV’s overall good looks and functionality, the 2016 Kia Sorento has had some missteps since its introduction that are frustrating to new car owners.

2016 Kia Sorento Complaints

One complaint involves the runaway cruise control. Kia Sorento owners say when they are going down hill or on a decline, the engine’s RPM becomes erratic and it seems as though the system is attempting to stop or slow down the vehicle. It turns out the engine is attempting to do the braking instead of the transmission as it is done in the trucking industry. Kia allegedly told the owner not to use cruise control on declines higher than 6 degrees to avoid this happening.

Another owner stated they had problems with the brake light turning on and issues with the brake pedal sinking as it was pressed. The dealership was unable to replicate the problem and nothing was fixed.

Other complaints include problems with the steering wheel pulling to one side, but it was not the alignment. it turns out the steering wheel angle sensor was off and needed to be calibrated.
