Toyota Motor Corporation recently announced it will replace roughly 102,000 engines in their 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra trucks and Lexus LX SUVs in North America.
This announcement came on July 25th, two months after the automaker announced a recall back in May for the same vehicles.
Owners had complained to Toyota that their engine made knocking sounds, they were rough running, didn’t start, or lost motive power
Owners were told there was machining debris in the engines of the gas-powered trucks and SUVs that was left behind from the manufacturing process. However, owners of the hybrid models were not affected by the issue.
So far, Toyota was aware of 824 engine warranty claims when it made the announcement.
Also, Toyota will replace all these engines at no cost to owners. This is great news for owners of these trucks and SUVs. Some have their vehicles sitting at a dealership with no engine waiting for a fix.
Overall Toyota will replace engines in 98,568 Tundra pickup trucks and 3,524 Lexus LX600 SUVs.
Fortunately, there are no known injuries or deaths related to the engine problems, but the manufacturer decided to fix these vehicles because it is aware that an engine failure could cause an accident.
