What Tundra and Lexus Owners Need to Know — and When Lemon Law Might Apply
By Attorney James Johnson
Toyota has announced a major recall affecting 126,691 vehicles across its Toyota and Lexus brands after discovering a manufacturing defect that can cause engines to stall, dramatically increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem stems from “machining debris” left inside the engine during production of these vehicles. That debris can interfere with engine function, resulting in hard starting—or worse, complete engine shutdown while driving.
Vehicles Included in the Recall
The recall impacts the following models:
-
Toyota Tundra (2022–2024)
-
Lexus LX600 (2022–2024)
-
Lexus GX550 (2024)**
Toyota plans to begin notifying owners by mail on December 22, with additional updates provided once a permanent repair is available. All recall-related repairs will be made free of charge.
If you have questions about the recall, Toyota customer service can be reached at 1-800-331-4331.
Recall reference numbers include 25TB14 and 25TA14 for Toyota models, and 25LB07 and 25LA07 for the Lexus vehicles.
What If You’ve Already Experienced Engine Problems?

While recalls aim to fix safety defects, many drivers experience repeated issues long before the recall is announced. If your Toyota or Lexus has suffered from:
-
Engine stalling
-
Repeated no-start problems
-
Loss of power while driving
-
Multiple unsuccessful repair attempts
…you may be dealing with more than an inconvenience — you might have a lemon.
Under California’s Lemon Law, manufacturers must repurchase or replace vehicles with persistent defects that affect use, value, or safety. Engine stalling absolutely qualifies as a safety concern.
