Tesla Recall to Fix Seatbelt Issue in Model X, S, Y and 3 Vehicles

Tesla Recall to Fix Seat Belt Issue in Model X, S, Y and 3 VehiclesFederal safety officials say Tesla will recall roughly 125,000 vehicles to fix a defective seatbelt warning system in its Model X, Model S, Model Y, and Model 3 vehicles.

The problem could increase the risk of an injury in a collision.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall includes certain 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles.

The purpose of the seatbelt warning system is to provide both an audible and visual reminder to drivers so they fasten their seatbelts.

Federal safety officials require automakers to equip vehicles with audible and visual seatbelt reminder signals.

Tesla, headed up by billionaire Elon Musk, identified 104 warranty claims for the issue, but there are no known injuries or fatalities related to the seatbelt warning system.

The automaker will update vehicles by deploying updates over the air at no charge.
