Recall Ford Bronco Sport SUV, Maverick Pickup Low Battery Issue

Recall for Ford Bronco Sport SUV, Maverick Low Battery IssueFord Motor Co. will recall roughly 456,565 vehicles due to a low battery issue that may increase the risk of a crash in certain Ford Bronco Sport SUVs and Ford Maverick pickups.

The affected vehicles may lose drive power from the low battery charge as well as the loss of power to electrical accessories, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall applies to Bronco SUVs manufactured between 2021 and 2024, and Maverick pickup trucks manufactured in 2022 and 2023, the NHTSA said.

Federal safety officials say the undetected low battery charge could lead to a loss in electrical accessories such as hazard lights and/or a loss of drive power that would lead to a possible collision.

There will be letters notifying owners of the recalled vehicles sent out on May 13, 2024, according to the NHTSA.

Ford dealerships plan to fix the issue at no charge to owners by recalibrating the body control module and power train control module, the report said.

Also, there will be a software update for affected vehicles at no cost to owners.

Meanwhile, there are other Ford Bronco and Ford Maverick recalls that should be remedied if you own one of these vehicles. Here are just a few of them:

2023 Ford Bronco SUV Recalls

There are currently eight recalls for certain 2023 Bronco SUVs including one in 2023 that urged owners not to drive the vehicle until the lug nuts on the driver’s side wheels are tightened.  Another recall in February 2024 was to fix the rear quarter glass panels as they may detach after being improperly installed on the vehicle’s hard top. A third was to fix the  transmission park system which was damaged during assembly leading to a rollaway risk. Other recalls include a malfunctioning child safety lock, the first-row seat belt latch plates that are difficult to access and steering wheel lockup while driving.

2022-2023 Ford Maverick Recalls

There is a recall from late in 2023 for 35,501 of the 2022-2023 Ford Maverick due to a risk of fire from engine failure. Owners whose truck loses power, has unexpected engine noise or emit smoke should safely park their vehicle and shut off the engine as quickly as possible, Ford said.

Furthermore, the vehicles experiencing this problem have the 2.5-liter HEV/PHEV engine.
