Ford Motor Co. has issued a do-not-drive warning for thousands of Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles after discovering potentially dangerous problems with their suspension systems. This defect could significantly increase the risk of a crash.
According to the recall, certain 2021–2026 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022–2026 Ford Maverick vehicles may have issues involving the front lower control arm ball joints. If a control arm detaches while driving, the driver may experience a sudden loss of vehicle control, creating a serious safety hazard.
The recall affects approximately 4,600 vehicles, and Ford owners may reach out to local dealers to inspect and repair the issue at no cost.
Legal Help for California Ford Bronco/Maverick Owners
For California drivers, repeated repair issues or serious safety defects may raise important legal questions. If your Ford vehicle has experienced ongoing problems, extended time in the repair shop, or recurring suspension-related issues, you may have rights under California’s Lemon Law.
“California drivers deserve to have a problem-free vehicle and should feel safe when they are driving our busy roads and freeways,” said Attorney James Johnson, founder of Johnson Attorneys Group.
Vehicle manufacturers have a legal obligation to repair substantial defects that impact a vehicle’s safety, value, or use. When they fail to do so after a reasonable number of repair attempts, consumers may be entitled to a replacement vehicle, buyback, or compensation. Find out if your vehicle, such as a Bronco or Maverick, is affected by a recall or Do Not Drive warning.

“People buy Ford vehicles because of the brand’s value and reputation,” Johnson said. “However, if your vehicle spends more time at the dealership repair shop than in your driveway, consumers should understand they may have legal rights. California’s Lemon Law exists to protect drivers who repeatedly deal with defects that substantially impair the vehicle’s use, value, or safety.”
