Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety compliance recall in North America for more than 700,000 vehicles. The reason is because the backup cameras may suddenly go dark or display distorted images.
The Ford 2020 recall affects most 2020 versions of Ford’s F-Series pickup trucks, the 2020 Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang, Ford Transit, Ford Expedition, Ford Escape, Ford Ranger and Ford Edge. Top selling vehicles that are also included in the recall are the Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair. F-Series trucks.
The automaker reported that it must take corrective actions to fix a poor electrical connection. This connection was causing the malfunction to occur, according to the U.S. government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. When a rearview camera intermittently displays a blank or distorted image it is no longer in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Ford stated there are no known crashes or injuries caused by the problem.
