Fiat Chrysler Recalls 74,833 Ram and Dodge Pickup Trucks Due to Fire Risk and Stalling

A recall by Fiat Chrysler in the United States asks 74,833 owners of Ram and Dodge pickup trucks to replace faulty alternators due to a potential fire risk or engine stalling.

The auto manufacturer stated come alternator may have issues with the diodes and this could potentially cause a short circuit in the part that may cause the vehicle to stall or catch fire.

Specifically, the pickups made between 2007 and 2013 under the Ram 2500 and 3500 models are subject to the recall as well as Ram pickups with 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs. Also included in the recall is the 2011 through 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit. Additionally, some 10,077 pickups in Canada, 1,088 in Mexico and 134 elsewhere in the world are affected by the recall.

The automaker stated there was a single related injury, but no deaths as a result of the defective alternators.
