Ford Recalls 850,000 vehicles

A recent Ford recall affects some 850,000 vehicles throughout the United States due to three separate safety issues.

The vehicles included in the three recalls by Ford Motor Co. are the 2013 to 2017 Ford Explorer, the 2020 to 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup trucks and the 2020 to 2021 Lincoln Aviators, according to a press release issued by Ford Motor Co.

Ford Explorer Recall

Specifically, the largest recall is for 774,696 Ford Explorers that may experience problems with the rear suspension toe link. This issue may lead to steering control and alignment malfunctions that may be dangerous for drivers. There are six known injury incidents in North America reported to Ford involving this malfunction.

Ford F-350 Super Duty Truck Recall

Additionally, the Ford safety recall includes some 34,855 of the F-350 Super Duty trucks in the model years 2020 to 2021. Some of these vehicles have experienced disconnection to the rear driveline that leads to an increase in the vibrations and shakiness of the car. It is particularly noticeable on long drives.

Lincoln Aviator Recall

Roughly 40,995 Lincoln Aviator vehicles from the 2020 to 2021 models are being recalled due to “improperly secured battery cable wire harnesses.” If there is a malfunction it may cause a short circuit in the battery. If this happens, the vehicle’s engine may catch on fire.

Additionally, Ford Motor Company plans to notify owners about the safety recalls in mid-August and at which time owners should take the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected.

So far the automaker is unaware of any vehicular injuries related to the Super Duty trucks or the Lincoln Aviators.
