2024–2025 Nissan Rogue Recall Over Loss of Power Issue

2024–2025 Nissan Rogue Recall Over Loss of Power Issue2024–2025 Nissan Rogue: What California Drivers Should Know

Nissan issued a recall for approximately 318,781 2024 and 2025 Rogue SUVs due to a defect in the electronic throttle control (ETC) system that can cause a loss of power. These vehicles are equipped with the 3-cylinder 1.5 liter variable compression (VC Turbo) engine.

According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, gears inside the electric throttle body may fracture. If that occurs, broken components can interfere with the internal gear assembly, potentially resulting in a loss of motive power (LOMP). In some cases, the vehicle may not engage forward or reverse gear after a restart — a serious safety risk that increases the likelihood of a crash.

What Is the Fix?

Dealers are instructed to:

  • Reprogram the vehicle’s software

  • Inspect the electronic throttle body

  • Replace the throttle body assembly if necessary

As with all safety recalls, these repairs are performed at no cost to the owner.

When a Nissan Rogue Recall May Become a Lemon Law Issue

While recalls are common, repeated repair attempts, extended time out of service, or persistent drivability issues may trigger protections under California’s Lemon Law. If your Rogue continues to experience power loss or throttle-related problems after recall repairs, you may have legal options beyond the dealership fix.

Nissan owners can contact customer service at 800-647-7261 and reference recall numbers R25E2 and R25E3 for more information.
