Chrysler (FCA US LLC) announced a recall this week for its 2014 to 2017 Ram ProMaster vehicles due to incorrect information on the dashboard labels, the sun visor, and owner’s manuals, according to the company, the labels incorrectly state that the vehicles are equipped with advanced front driver and passenger airbags, but that is not the case. The labeling therefore fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirement number 208.
This presents a safety issue because occupants could potentially place themselves closer to the air bags, increasing the risk of injury if there were to be a collision.
Chrysler is expected to notify owners and dealerships, who are required to correct the sun visor labels, the dashboard (hangtag) label, and the owner’s manual and user guide information. There is no cost to consumers to have these updates made.
The recall is scheduled to begin on June 9, 2017. For more information, contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with the recall number T24.
