Harley Davidson Recalls 66,421 Touring & CVO Touring Bikes

Harley Davidson motorcycle riders who ride certain 2014 models should be aware of a recent recall that seeks to repair potentially faulty anti-lock brakes in some 66,421 Touring and CVO Touring motorcycles.

Two minor injuries from five separate motorcycle crashes are reportedly linked to the defect that can cause the front brakes to suddenly lock up. Specifically, the front brake line may become pinched between the fuel tank and the bike’s frame causing pressure in the lines that could affect braking, according to a recent recall issued by the Milwaukee-based company.

Specifically, the recall is targeting bikes made between July 1, 2013, and May 7 that feature anti-lock brakes.

Owners may take their bikes to their local Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership to have the brake lines replaced and straps installed to keep the lines in place.

Other recent Harley Davison recalls include one for 18,000 motorcycles from the Breakout and CVO lines for a fuel range indicator light defect announced early this year as well as one issued in the fall of 2013 for 29,000 bikes with defective hydraulic clutch systems.

“A motorcyclist is by nature at risk for serious injury on our busy roadways, but they shouldn’t have to worry about whether their bike is safe to ride,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Riders who purchase Harley Davidson bikes expect and should have the best, safest motorcycle on the road.”
