Tiffin Motorhomes announced a recall on Feb. 28 for 35, 2012 Phaeton motorhomes due to a fire risk from an exhaust pipe that is mounted too close to the underside of the floor.
The family-owned, Red Bay, Alabama-based manufacturer of recreational vehicles, stated the recall affects vehicles built on the PowerGlide chassis with these floorplans: QBH, QKH, and QTH. The recall expands an earlier one by the company issued last year which recalled 140, 2010-2012 Phaeton vehicles. The 2016 recall affected vehicles with the same floor plan configurations and had the same problems.
The latest recall states that there was insufficient spacing between the exhaust pipe and the floor, but owners are asked to return the vehicle so that the company may reconfigure the exhaust and permit extra clearance. There is no charge to consumers to have these repairs made.
